Heart 2 Heart's Volusia patients that have a Medicaid plan are scheduled for sonos at LAD Imaging located in Deltona and DeLand.
Sonograms are a diagnostic tool that allow your
health care team to get a good look at what is
happening inside your uterus. During a sonogram
the radiologist is looking at your baby's organs,
taking measurements used for assessing your baby's gestational age, the placental condition and where it is growing in the uterus, and your amniotic fluid level as well as checking out the uterus, cervix and ovaries.
18-21 weeks estimated gestational age or EGAis the typical time to schedule your sonogram.
Reasons for sonograms include:
- If you experience bleeding during pregnancy
- Unsure of your last menstrual period date
- Size of baby greater or smaller than expected at the time
- Confirm baby's position closer to your due date
- Genetic screening looking for signs of open nueral tube defect or nuchal fold translucency. This is scheduled through either Fetal Diagnostics department with Winnie Palmer or Dr. Christiansen, a local perinatologist.
Our patients who do not have insurance or Medicaid are usually directed to Morningstar Radiology to see John Hartwell. John has been performing sonograms in this area for approximately 30 years.
